One More Match?

For the first time since retiring eight years ago, Shawn Michaels has expressed interest in returning to the ring.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Michaels now says that he doesn’t dismiss the idea of returning to the ring for a one-off.

“It would have to be done the right way and just for one match rather than something that ran for longer” he told them. "It could be possible but people would have to accept they wouldn't be getting the Showstopper, Mr WrestleMania, and that I'm 52 years old now."

Michaels last wrestled at WrestleMania 26 back in 2010, losing to the Undertaker in a streak vs. career match. After giving a farewell speech the next night on Raw, he has sporadically appeared on WWE programing in a non-wrestling capacity. He currently helps train wrestlers at the WWE Performance Center.

In the article, Michaels mentioned Daniel Bryan, Johnny Gargano and AJ Styles as people he would like to face if he were the Shawn Michaels of ten years ago.

I'm torn.

On one hand, he's my all-time favorite wrestler and of course I'd love to see that. The dream matches are incredible. Bryan, AJ, etc.

On the other hand, his retirement was perfect and I love the fact that he's been the one guy who went out while he was still performing at a peak level and has stuck to his retirement stipulation ever since. Also...like he says, he's 52. What if he comes back and it's a disappointment or a bad match? The bar is so high and people like AJ are still performing at godly levels. I'll be sad if HBK can't hang.

I'm in that same exact boat. I loved his retirement and the fact that he's stuck to his word about staying away from the ring. I will forever want a Styles v HBK match but won't be disappointed if it never comes to be.

Win the Day!

I know Shawn will do his damndest if he agreed to a match, and it might actually benefit him that he's been away from the ring's physicality for the last 8 years because even at 52, that means he hasn't been wearing down his body for the last 8 years either.

But still, his retirement was excellent and I mean, if Brock breaking his arm and Triple H's arm a few years ago didn't bring him out of retirement, then I dunno what really logically could.
