Saudi Arabia to host 50 Man Royal Rumble on April 27, 2018
#31
That's a pretty damn accurate description. Like, holy shit how much money do you have to pay to get a Royal Rumble in April, an Undertaker match, a Triple H match, plus get Lesnar to show up?

Plus it was enough to get them to totally abandon their principles when it comes to the women's revolution they love so much.

I like the old school or Indy vibe of it that it sounds like awesome matches that don't need any real story to take place. I'm all for more stuff like this.

While at the MSY Airport this woman started talking to me about wrestling. She was a fan and had just done the whole Gold Package Wrestlemania experience. While discussing the Saudi Arabia show, she brought up an excellent point: Although there were mixed feelings as a whole, events like these will help loosen and change the culture. It may help to open the minds of some regarding the roles when take/are given.

Clearly there won't be overnight change but simply not doing the show won't really help the cause.

I'll usually hear about someone being active service or veteran status before Brulos can even get to "Poncho."

I mean, I sorta see that logic, but I dunno man. Saudi Arabia treats women like absolute shit. Being gay is punishable by a torturous death. The country is a dictatorship (obviously Vince likes that sort of thing but still).

I just don't see how this sort of thing is going to open any eyes or loosen up the culture. Maybe if WWE had the balls to buck the system and put women on the show but they aren't doing that. Instead, an arena full of men are going to watch a bunch of other men wrestle, with not a woman in sight (nor any of Finn's rainbow flag shirts) and then they're going to go home and continue treating their wives like dogs and stoning gay people.

The only way something like this is going to affect change there is if WWE does something radical to make waves. And they won't. This has nothing to do with opening up a new culture. This is 100% because some rich oil tycoon is throwing around enough money that Vince is willing to turn a blind eye.

On the other hand, it isn't their job to try and change their views. As you said, it's a Dictatorship and WWE is a guest in their country which means that to some degree they have to respect the views of those there; especially anyone of Political power. I don't like it and I agree with your views but if you think Americans are stubborn and hellbent on our beliefs, the Middle East takes it beyond the extreme.

I get that but I'm saying they shouldn't be a guest in that country at all. If Vince wanted to stand behind his principles, he should refuse to go at all. Fuck them.

Come on now. Vince would put on a show in front of the Nazi Socialist Party if the dollar sign was right.

Vince is sorta like a more ass holeish Moriarty.
He’d start a war and sell weapons and bandages to both sides.

Who knows. He seems to have pissed off Vince again somehow. God forbid a guy get over on his own I guess.

Mysterio has also been added to the show. Because apparently the rich oil kid is paying huge money.

So he can win the Rumble!

My real guess is that so they didn't want to bury him (no pun intended) and Jericho taking a Loss won't hurt anyone. The only negative is that he was in a high profile match and now he will probably be just a guy in the Rumble.

I hope that’s the case and not that he did something to piss off Vince

Well making a smart ass tweet asking the Undertaker to "bury me softly, brother" probably didn't help his cause. Also apparently he's removed all the WWE mentions from his twitter and it seems like he either already been or about to get released. Guess we'll be wondering what Surev is doing in the Impact Zone soon.

They got 400,000,000 riyal for that allegedly. For all Vince cares they could call it the world's greatest stay at home single losers fest.

That’s $106Million. Lunch money for the rich fuck that paid for it.

Sure you're not adding an extra 0 there in the riyals? Because yeah, $106 million is absurd. $16 million sounds a lot more realistic.

Win a regular ass Royal Rumble, you get a chance at the championship at WM.

Win the GREATEST Royal Rumble and you get this shitty trophy.

The E is starting to go crazy with the amount of trophies they're handing out lately.

Win the Day!

Well Summerslam would be a long time to wait for someone to receive a title match. I mean, Rumble to Mania is 2 months. GREATEST RUMBLE to Summerslam would be 4 months.

I do think a title shot would be in order for whoever wins it though. Maybe it will be.

And maybe Jericho campaigned hard to have Rusev get that match, or maybe the rich prince's buying this show decided they'd rather see Rusev? Maybe Rusev has connections we don't know about :o Rusev Day is a world wide international holiday, after all.

Allegedly the match was changed back because Undertaker told them he didn't care if Rusev called him old.
