This was about as cookie cutter of a PPV as it was going to be. The only real surprise was booking Ziggler to win for some fucking reason.

Win the Day!

They booked him to win so Corbin can take it back in the rematch and give me a bunch of points for the new season :D

Wouldn't surprise me. Corbin actually made a decent US Champion.

Win the Day!

I think they want Corbin for the world title picture around Rumble or leading into WM34.

Because trying to force Roman Reigns on us for the past 4 years has worked marvelously.

I'm having a mental block on anyone else who could fill the role right now. Corbin can even claim that he has beaten AJ clean (for the US title). I'm not in love with it but it's better than Jinder.

Owens hands down.

He's the only one who is anywhere near the equivalent of AJ on the mic, could put on a sellable match that would steal the show no matter when or where it was and he's more than likely the top heel on the card now.

They wasted that feud on the US Championship. I don't see them doing it again this soon.

They seem to think that a continuation of the Shane v Owens feud is what we want.

Win the Day!

Actually it makes more sense now than ever.

DB/Shane clashing over control with KO/Sami being right in the middle. Shane books a #1 contenders match for AJ's title at Rumble where he leaves KO/Zayn out. In revolting manner, DB inserts KO into the match undermining Shane's commissioner authority. Then of course KO wins that match with the help of Sami. Buildup involves AJ being the poster child of Smackdown and being on the side of Shane with KO having Sami/DB in his back pocket. You could even add a stipulation to make things interesting where if KO loses to AJ, DB loses his job as GM which would make for a buildup if indeed DB returns (exacting revenge).

I would almost rather see this than AJ/Shinsuke. Not that I dont think that would be a blockbuster match but I'm just not confident that Shinsuke gets anything out of it. He loses and then what? MITB? US title run? Sounds like the Samoa Joe treatment to me and he deserves better than that.

It would be shoehorned in there. It can be done but it doesn't seem as likely in the short term. Corbin is a good 1 month guy until AJ can move on to bigger and better things.

I can see that. Ideally, I would like to see AJ vs ? at the Rumble, irrelevant who really and then have Nak win the Rumble. If Corbin doesn't win the title, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world then. Looking at the Smackdown roster, there really isn't anyone else. I am assuming Dolph and Roode are feuding, and Randy/Nak/KO/SZ are still going to be involved in the Shane/DB shit.

I think Corbin will remain in the US Title pic for now but I did read that at some point soon he's going to get a big push. They really wasted the last one they tried to give him with the failed MITB cash-in.

One wildcard choice that I could see happening is Mojo Rawley winning a #1 contenders match and facing AJ at Rumble. They seem to like him a lot and he's got the look of a guy who could at least pass as a main eventer.

I don't think he's ready for that kind of push yet but man....Mojo's growing on me.

His pre-show match with Zack Ryder was decent. He's not a great wrestler, but he's passable. But turns out...he's actually pretty awesome on the mic. His promos lately on TV have been good and the one he put on Twitter the other day was even better. He actually got me excited for the match. If they actually start letting him cut promos and don't get in his way by overscripting him, I could absolutely see him getting over.

Bare in mind Im only talking a temporary solution to fill in the spot at Rumble. Even when he doesnt win I dont think it would hurt him.

Why not let Paige test it out first?
