I can't be the only baseball guy here.
Oh shit I was thinking the Sox would pull off the win being up 4-0 in the bottom of the 7th but was I wrong! Off to a great start!!

I didn't realize Canadian beer on average has more alcohol content than American beer does, what brand of beer did you drink? I don't drink much Canadian beer, they got some decent whisky up there though.

I legit don’t recall writing this message at all. What a night. What a trip. Trip cost about $2000 but worth every penny. Jays even decided to win a game today. Seats today were 5th row directly behind home plate. Incredible.

Red Sox are playing their best baseball. Unbelievable. Ohtani got waxed last night which is crazy considering if he continues to pitch as well as he has, he could easily be the CY young winner.

I find it odd Ohtani chose an American League team, wouldn't it have made more sense for a player like him to be playing in the National League?

I don't think it would've mattered. He can already play both hitting and pitching positions quite well. On days he doesn't pitch he's in the lineup. Maybe he thought he'd only be hitting on days he pitched if he went to the NL.

Angels paid the club he was with something like 20 mil

Exactly. All these Japanese guys go to the teams that pay the most money

Except he didn't.

Angels only paying about $2.5 million to Ohtani as a signing bonus which is all the international signing pool money the Angels had, and outside of that, he's getting paid league minimum of 500K. From the 7 finalist teams he chose, Angels had I believe the 4th most amount to pay him, the Mariners and Rangers had more. From other teams, that weren't the 7 finalists, several teams had more to give, but every team was limited in what they could spend. Ohtani gave up a ton of money choosing to come before the age of 25 and signing as a minor league free agent. If he wanted more money, he would have just waited 2 years and signed to the highest bidder, like others like Darvish, Tanaka and Daisuke did. He simply chose what team he wanted to go to most, I guess based on how they plan to use him and seems like how comfortable he felt with the upper management.

It makes more sense for him to be playing with an American League team. If he would have chose a National League team, he would only be able to bat on the days he pitches, which would only have give about 26-32 games to hit for the year, unless an NL team agreed to play him in the OF on days he wasn't pitching, but no team is going to want to risk their star pitcher blowing out his arm in the OF.

As it is, he's pitching once a week, and doesn't hit on the days he pitches, the day before, or the day after. So that gives him about 3 or 4 starts in the lineup a week. He should finish the year if healthy, with about 25 pitching starts, and like 80-90 games in the lineup

Better hope he stays healthy. Other than Ichiro, the Japanese prospects don't exactly have a good track record of having very long careers

Definitely, I'm guessing that's why the Angels are being overly cautious and trying to be strict and keeping him to this plan. There's been a lot of analysts talking about how the Angels should try putting him in the lineup more, but based on Japanese player track record, plus Ohtani being a two-way player trying to do something that hasn't been done in 100 years, there's every reason in the world to be careful with him. Especially after his blisters on his hand against the Red Sox.

Dude is just 23 years old, and the Angels have control of him for 6 years, no reason to try and push him until they figure out what he's capable of and able to handle.

Indians trade Mejia for Brad Hand/Adam Climber.

Good deal. Will help the bullpen out especially once Miller gets back to full health.
