WWE Head Writer of 11 Years GONE
#1
This has been the big talk since yesterday and I'm surprised nobody else has posted it yet:

Earlier today, a report was released regarding the status of a long time WWE Executive.

Today we found out that Vince McMahon removed Bryan Gewirtz from his position as the Senior Vice President of Creative Writing today following a consecutive trend of low rated episodes of Monday Night Raw. Gewirtz will continue to stay on as a consultant for WWE, providing feedback on WWE shows. It is also believed McMahon has come under increasing pressure from TV executives to make immediate changes to increase ratings.

Gewirtz was immediately sent home when he arrived at Raw in Sacramento, Calif. A number of sources are reporting that WWE cannot release him without buying him out of his contract thus the reason why he is being kept on in a consultant role.

Now, I’m sure you are asking, who replaces Gewirtz? Regarding his replacement, Eric Pankowski, who was hired in February as the Senior Vice President for Creative and Development, has been hired in place of Gewirtz.

Monday Night Raw has set a very impressive bar at a height that not many shows, especially on cable, don’t necessarily reach. It makes me ask, who has more control over Monday Night Raw? Vince McMahon or The USA Network? USA is the reason why, before Raw went to 3 hours full time, why Raw would have to have a certain number of 3 hour shows per year. Eventually graduating to 3 hours full time, while attaining the 3.7 ratings that is expected of Monday Night Raw.

With Raw’s ratings being some of the lowest rated television in Raw history, WWE had to set a drastic example of them attempting to go in the right direction to fix the wrong. Their answer to this was to demote the man that has been with the company for 14 years and has a hand in most of the creative success that Monday Night Raw has attained. USA doesn’t have a vested interest in the legacy of Gerwitz, so seeing him as the sacrificial lamb would only make the television executives smile.

That smile alone capitalizes the work that Gerwitz has done for the company. On top of that, to add insult to injury, Gerwitz was replaces by a man who has been with the company for 9 months. How can you compare? I will never know.

The Hardcore title was wicked queer. I agree with the more grown up programming, but leave Hardcore dead. It belongs in the 90's.

I dunno. It seems like they are making a move just to make a move. You want Raw more exciting, with better ratings? Bring back the feel that ANYTHING can happen on Raw. Title changes (big ones), less PG programing, not nessisarily insanity, but just the feel of, you never know what can happen next.

1000% agreed with Peanut. They have a decent enough roster right now where they can pull this off.

One big step in the right direction? Rebuilding the tag division. I truly hope they stick with it and continue to try and develop it. Tag teams of old had memorable looks and style and once their run was up, there was a natural built-in feud between the two allowing one of them to become a breakout star.

I would love it if they continued to build teams so that Survivor Series could return to its old format and mean something. If you go back and watch Survivor Series, you will see how key it was in setting up storylines from then until Wrestlemania...and that is something else they are missing the boat on. Why make it a throwaway PPV?

oh god I remember that Raw when Jericho won the WWF title.

Holy fuck was I thrilled. Then he got it taken away Frown They really missed an opportunity there.

They missed with Kane too, that dude shoulda been champion at some point between 2001 and earlier. For more than a day.

24/7 Hardcore title was fun as hell in it's prime. Eventually, it kinda jumped the shark and got old. But it's been long enough, they could bring it back now and it'd be fresh and new and fun. I say go for it.

And sucks for Gerwitz, but man, something big needs to be done. Hopefully this is the start.

Biggest thing they need to do is go back to 2 hour Raws.

what they need to do is ditch the writing COMMITTEE. Too many different ideas, lead to one huge watered down mess that's not so good. 2-4 man writing team should be able to get the job done.

I hear ya' on that but after watching the BEST OF 11' there were quite a lot of title changes. WWE Title, WHC, IC, some were SD! but a lot of it was on Raw too. Now if they made it a surprise instead of letting us know it's going til the PPV, then i'd dig the idea. It's just too obvious when things are going to come to a head these days. Half the time Cena never defended the title on RAW and Punk has had a shit ton of matches on RAW where the title had not shit to do with it. I know we have talked about this before, but WTF would they do if Punk or Cena got seriously injured? Now Ryback/Cena is a "poll" to see who faces Punk at HIAC, which means Cena's injury will take a little longer than expected. Guarantee Ryback wins the tout "poll", Punk wins, then Cena appears on Raw the next night, cause I don't see them letting John show up at Ryback/Punk to fuck anyone over. That's not what Cena does. Kind of ranting but meh' it's in the ballpark!

I say strengthen the tag division and add some actual tag finisher... Also bring back factions, it's a good way to push top tier guys and get younger guys over and you could easily have tag teams get a push through being in a faction. Right off the top of my head is bring back the SES.

Bra and panties matches are stupid... I'm no longer a horny 14 year old. If I want to see that I'll watch porn. It's straight up exploitive and degrading to people they want to claim are competitors.

If they actual put some money into Divas they could bring in some great female talent and have a legit division. If they are not going to do that then just get rid of women's wrestling completely and either fire them so they can go to a real company that cares about it and the ones they want to keep make valets.

Cage is 100% right. They're fucking pointless wastes of time, aimed at horny men who, for whatever reason, aren't using the internet for porn.

Yeah, this is all Gewirtz fault, and has nothing to do with the new PG WWE that was created to help Linda win a senate seat.

Sheamus vs Wade Barrett is fucking awesome

And Bra & Panties matches are never 10 seconds, they take like 5 minutes. I'd rather give those 5 minutes to someone else, like Punk or Bryan or Miz or Sheamus or so on and so on...
