after rewatching: INSANE seeing and hearing how santino was the most over guy of the night. at least pull an attitude era kane move and have him win for the night for the massive pop.

i really thought that was gonna be the case, when bryan missed the headbutt and he hit the cobra i thought he was taking it for a few days. I hope they see how much he can provide in the main event now

This is what I have been reading actually. He was actually set to be the Rumble winner but his on-going injuries have made him too much of a risk lately.
He will be back as champion sooner or later. Much like Cena w/ Raw, he brings in entirely too much money to continue feuding with mid-carders for too long.

Yeah, and Orton has been a starmaking motherfucker lately. His feud with Mark Henry pretty much solidified Henry as the best heel of 2011 and Orton jobbed clean to him multiple times. Plus he's been going out and having awesome matches with rising stars, a lot of the time putting them over.
Orton is on Smackdown so he doesn't get seen as regularly but I'd say Orton was probably second to CM Punk as 2011's MVP. He quietly had a hell of a year.
