I launch the game from Steam, go to single player whatever the fuck, and as soon as the game starts, with the "Look up at the buzzer" shit, the game just crashes and closes. Every. Time.

I've googled and it appears there are a bazillion problems with this game, but I didn't see a fix anywhere. Anyone else have this problem or should I go ahead and contact Steam?

People still play Portal 2?

I downloaded it ages ago when it was on sale and never stopped playing Arkham City long enough to play it until now.

Portal 2 is fantastic. if you want to do the co-op stuff, let me know Peezy.

But, anywho. Hum, I never had this issue. So, first thing first. Right click on the game in Steam. Verify Game Files, Cache, etc etc. See if that works. If it doesn't, make sure your video card drivers are up to date, if nothing, make sure you have antivirus/firewall shit off. Other than that. Uh, burn down houses?

OH. Also, I noticed this, if you have tails on your mouse, turn that shit off, it fucks with HL2/Source stuff.

Already did the verify files stuff. Video card driver is definitely up to date. All things Steam and Portal are set to be allowed by the firewall. Still owe too much on the house.

Have you tried turning down the video settings?

Try running Steam / Portal 2 as an Administrator, if you aren't.

Barring that, I'd have to assume you meet the specs for the game if you can run Arkham City with no issue. Not really sure what else could be causing that. Never had any problems with Source games myself really.

Turned down video settings and even rolled back the driver. No luck.

Started to try the stuff you quoted but found out it doesn't apply. All the changes it wants me to make to that file are already set like that, so my graphics card is apparently compatible.

Running as an admin, didn't see anything on that list.

Eh well, I'll hit up the Steam folks. 'preciate it!

If anyone's curious, Steam finally replied and told me what to do and it fixed the problem. Here was their solution:

Exit Steam entirely.

Browse to your Steam installation (Usually C:\Program Files\Steam\)

Rename the "steamapps" folder to "old_steamapps"

Re-launch Steam and re-install the game.

Once the installation is complete, test the issue.

But yeah I second the co-op thing. I'd be down as well. I don't think I've even finished the whole co-op campaign.
