RE: PSVita?
I kinda wanted one just for the show, to transfer saves and play on the go.

Spending that much just to play the show is kinda retarded. lol

RE: PSVita?
It's a massive failure only in terms of sales what I've been hearing. There's really not much negative I've been hearing about it. The main reason I would guess the sales aren't great in Japan, is most launch games appeal to westerners than they would Japan. The launch line-up is actually pretty awesome. Not sure if I'll pick one up day 1, but likey within the first month. Likely will get these games:

Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Escape Plan
Rayman Origins Vita
Gravity Rush
MLB The Show

Here's PSVita's launch window lineup:

Escape Plan
Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Hustle Kings
Little Deviants
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Super StarDust Delta
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Wipeout 2048
Gravity Rush
MLB 12 The Show
Unit 13
Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend
Dynasty Warriors Next
F1 2011
FIFA Soccer
Lumines Electronic Symphony
Rayman Origins
Tales of Space: Mutant Blobs
Touch My Katamari
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Silent Hill Book of Memories
Supremacy MMA: Unrestricted

Plus a bunch of other shit that likely no one cares about.

The launch line-up actually has more impressive titles than the 3DS currently has right now, though the 3 or so games they do have are pretty awesome. The sad thing is, most people probably do think exactly how Gary Busey does. If it's not selling, it must suck, instead of actually reading up on it and seeing what games are out. I really don't give a shit how it sells, except that it might not get as much game support in the long run unless more people actually start buying it. Also, Sony is kind of shooting themselves in the foot because I've seen literally NO marketing for this, unless they are planning something for the Super Bowl.

RE: PSVita?
I have read up on it, and it looks neat, but I'm not sure I want to drop $300 on it, considering when I had a PSP the only thing I played was the show.

But being able to transfer my save and play the show at work on break and shit would be pretty fucking sweet.

Also, I read the Battery lasts about 3 play hours, which is just awful.

RE: PSVita?
3DS is the last time I ever buy a console on day one. I don't regret getting a 3DS but I regret having paid the 250 price tag. Was sooo bad because I had sold my Wii and all of it's shit and pretty covered the cost of the 3DS...

Vita is failing hard in Japan and that's a good indicator of how it'll do in the states. Hopefully those that are interested in buying it won't pick it up right away. This way it forces Sony's hand into lowering the price and making it more accessible, while not trying to make a profit on the hardware (vita built, costs about $150). I'm also not cool with the proprietary memory card bullshit that EXTREMELY overpriced. It's damn near $400 to get the thing and a game and a decent size memory card, just to start with it.

RE: PSVita?
Actually, in America I heard they are pretty much giving away a game, Memory card, and like 200 MB of free data with every 3g unit sold.

I'm not paying for a 3g gaming device though, fuck paying monthly for data.

Yeah, that's what all the reviews of the japanese unit are saying.

And I wasn't talking about that one DP, but I can't find the article now, so maybe I was imagining it... I think I saw something about an 8gb memory card...

RE: PSVita?
I read somewhere recently that the PSP outsold it again this month in Japan. Not that that really means much to me, because handheld systems aren't my kind of thing. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was fun as shit on the PSP though.

Quote:Despite the fact almost every games writer I've ever spoken with loves the thing, the general public has, so far, not exactly warmed to Sony's latest handheld video games console.

In Japan, sales have been dire. After a strong launch weekend, the Vita now isn't just being outsold by the 3DS, it's being outsold by the handheld it's meant to replace, the PSP. That's...not great.

RE: PSVita?
I'm a nerd and listen to a lot of video game related podcasts (among other ones while at work) and yeah, nearly every single writer has nothing but positive things to say about the Vita, outside of maybe its battery life was actually better than the 3DS when it has its 3D turned on.

I honestly think the biggest thing hurting is Sony lack of getting the info about it out there. I personally don't know anyone that even really knows its coming out next month outside of one co-worker. Also, losing the exclusive rights to Monster Hunter is likely the biggest reason that it isn't selling right now in Japan as it was pretty much the main reason the PSP had a long life in Japan.

Monster Hunter is a goddamn beast in Japan. If your console doesn't have MH it's a failure in Japan.

RE: PSVita?
Got mine paid off, i'm crazy pumped for this, played demos for most of the launch titles.

Mainly uncharted, Mod nation racers, and MvC.

All very solid, VERY FUCKING beautiful for a handheld.

Thumbsticks are weird at first but after about 10 mins of solid playing it grows on you. I can not wait until a good FPS comes out on it, and mortal kombat.

Also i heard Twisted Metal might get a port to it. Color me very fucking excited.

Also if you pre order they have a new bundle $299 get's you

The 3g/wi-fi vita (you do not have to have a contract whoever said that)
Case
1 free PSN game download of your choice.
8gb memory card.
And A start up free month of 3g service, i believe it's the 250MB one and not the 3GB, not sure.

Such a good deal.

RE: PSVita?
Yes you do have to have a contract. You have to sign up for the service through att. That's a contract.

But i also think it's doomed to be a failure. The Psp-ds war proved that people don't want console games on handhelds and vita is basically the same as the PSP in that way.

I find the tech interesting, but. nothing is compelling yet. I wouldn't play any of those games. Uncharted 3 made me realize i don't realluz enjoy those games, they are they run from set piece to set piece with little player interaction, fighters on handhelds are always a poor experience and everything else is either somewhere better or just not interesting. The only game in the psv pipeline i look forward to is Persona 4 golden, and that's just a remake of a game i already love.

My ipad 2 is 3g but I don't have a contract. I just have the option to sign up for 3g whenever I want and it is on a month-by-month basis, not long contract terms. Like if I know I'm going on vacay in March or something I can just switch on 3g for the month and then when I want I just shut it off. I think that's the way the psvita is set up to.

Yeah, the one thing playing in favor for the PSVita is that AT&T is allowing customers to sign up and cancel "contracts" whenever.

Buuuut..... it's AT&T.....

RE: PSVita?
The really shitty part is that there is a 20MB cap on 3G downloads, making 3g worthless as that means you can only download minis. 3g is too slow to play online, psv titles and psn titles are much larger and why the fuck would you even use the browser, which while being an improvement is still dramatically inferior to what you would have on your phone.

RE: PSVita?
Anyone else going to get this?

I already picked up Rayman Origins and downloaded Escape Plan and Super Stardust Delta off the PSN to get ready for Wednesday.

Here are the games that pretty decent scores on IGN:

Super Stardust Delta - 9.5
Rayman Origins - 9.0
Tales from Space: Mutant Blob Attacks - 9.0
Lumines: Electronic Symphony - 9.0
BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend - 8.5
Uncharted: Golden Abyss - 8.5
Escape Plan - 8.0
FIFA - 8.0
Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus - 8.0
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - 8.0
Army Corps of Hell - 7.0
ModNation Racers: Road Trip - 7.0
Wipeout 2048 - 7.0

Not very bad for launch day. I plan to pick up Lumines & Uncharted pretty soon, and plan to download Tales from Space as soon as it goes live on the PSN.

Portable gaming is/was just a miss to me. Only thing I used the PSP for was movies and porn on the go, which the iPod touch axed it. Plus Angry Birds>Any PSP game....maybe not forever but angry birds was better than any game i've played for it. I'm a gamer but seriously can wait to play. I like smoking a bowl, getting some soda, and relaxing. Hard to even get comfy playing the PS portables, imo, I don't need like Wii room but I like to posture up on the couch and get in my game zone! Basically a portable PS2 to me with watered down PS3 games.

Anyone else get a Vita? Been playing in the last couple days and I'm loving it.

Got Rayman Origins, Lumines, and Uncharted in a B2G1 free deal. And downloaded Escape Plan, Super Stardust Delta, and Tales from Space.

So far, been playing Escape Plan and Rayman Origins. Escape Plan is pretty awesome and actually uses the Vita touch screen and back touch pretty nicely.

Can't wait to pick up MLB the Show in a couple weeks.
