No, not every player... But Prince Fielder definitely is.

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
We may have slightly overpaid by making it a nine year deal but I love it. I'm not gonna complain for my team signing a 27 year old left handed hitter who has five straight 30+ homerun seasons. I can't wait to see Fielder and Miguel Cabrera hit back to back in our lineup as I get hooked up with pretty sweet seats several times a year.

I remember hearing something similiar in 2005 when we signed Magglio Ordonez to the second largest contract in team history despite him coming off a knee injury. Then in October 2006 he hit the walkoff homerun to put us in the World Series for the first time in 22 years and followed that with arguably the greatest statistical season in Tigers history. Prince Fielders results may vary, but none of you can take away the joy I got from this signing.
PS- You know who owns the Tigers right?? The same guy who owns the Red Wings and damn near bought the Pistons last offseason. Mike Ilitch has a net worth of 1.7 billion, not sweating Fielders deal......at all.

I'm aware of who owns the team.
Fielder will be fine. Cabrera will not. He will miss 30-40 games this year with injury

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
Cabrera could have a monster year with Fielder there. He finally gets some decent back-up behind him, not to say Victor Martinez wasn't great last year, but people actually fear Fielder in the line-up as opposed to Martinez, so Cabrera could be a looking a lot less walks and way better pitches to hit.
I'm happy for Detroit, but mainly because this means Fielder isn't going to Texas

Yeah I figured you knew who owned the Tigs, just wanted to be sure. Your injury concerns may be valid as Miggy will now move to 3rd to make way for Fielder at first. With us losing Victor Martinez for the year we needed another big bat in the lineup and this works nicely.
Sam- I truly believe the Tigs made this move not only to fill that big bat we needed, but also to keep him out of Texas. I could be wrong but after seing what they did to us in the postseason the last thing we wanted t see was him as a Ranger.

You should at least be decent on defense to get this kind of money..no one trick pony should ever get a huge pay day in baseball unless its a pitcher.

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
Well, if that's the case, then the Tigers helped the Angels out too. So awesome either way. With the Angels signing Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson, it gives the Angels a solid offense, especially if Trumbo and Morales are both in the line-up healthy and producing, and possibly the best pitching rotation in the AL, gives a shot at taking the division from the Rangers.
Also, it's ridiculous at all the great 1B in the AL: Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder/Miguel Cabrera (not exactly sure how they'll break up their positions), Mark Teixeira, Adrian Gonzalez, etc....hard to imagine who will start at 1B for the All-Star game.

Awesome pic WhoDey!! I love Cecil and still fondly recall seeing Prince watch his dad take BP at the old Tiger Stadium. This town is buzzing over this signing, the people (including me) are stoked for the upcoming season.

The bigger loss for the Tigers is Victor Martinez.
I wonder if this means Prince will go to DH once Cabrera heals. Either way, I'm just happy that it makes it official that the Reds won't have to deal with him or Pujols any more.

It also means Votto is going to be looking for a HUGE deal in the AL when the time comes.

Well it's not like nobody knows he is bolting any way.
I'd rather keep BP down the long-run than Votto any way. Good hitting 1st basemen are a dime-a-dozen.

That's pretty true, the Angels technically have 3 great hitting 1B on their team (Albert Pujols, Kendrys Morales and Mark Trumbo), though we'll be trying to split them into three different positions: 1B, 3B, and DH. Hoping it works out.

I seen that Cabrera is going back to third base for Detroit..between him and Fielder they are going to need to score at least 5 runs a night just to keep R's higher than the E's on the scoreboard.

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
The way I see it: I'd rather have the Reds build on their bullpen because everyone knows that's how you win in the NL than try to dump a bunch of money trying to build the team around a player who isn't really committed to staying.
We got a good start this off-season by trading for Latos and acquiring Marshall/Madson (though he's only on a 1-year deal but if he plays well enough the Reds may think about extending him). We also need to figure out what's gonna happen with Chapman. If we plan on starting him, he's gonna have to learn control pretty damn quick.
If there is ever a year that we are gonna compete for a penant, it's this year while we have the guys that we do.

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
As a Braves fan I have always preferred teams to be built up from their own farm systems and have them earn their pay day that way..I just wish more guys stayed in the system they came up in. its a lost art in baseball these days.
Its been nice to grow up watching Chipper Jones in the same uniform from farm league and up.

Barry is/was my favorite non pitcher of all time. I'll always have a soft spot for the Reds.
Im more of a fan of the pitching side of the game though so Tom Glavine is still at the top of my All Time List.

RE: Whoo-hoo!! Tigers sign Prince Fielder!!
Reds never really had too many dominant pitchers so there isn't one big named Reds pitcher that is a stand-out.
However, my favorite players of all-time are Pete Rose, Ken Griffey Jr, Johnny Bench, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays and Ted Williams. Half of them played for the Reds so I guess I have some comfort there.

I don't ever remember Paul Molitor playing for the Tigers but the pic says otherwise, imma look that up cuz it's bugging me now. Our infield isn't gonna great defensively but with Miggy taking third it means that Brandon Inge is back to a part-time role and that pleases me. It's a banner year for Inge when he hits .200 and he's not as good defensively at third as people make him out to be, though he's better than Miggy.

Yeah, I don't think he did either. I only recall Brewers, Twins and Blue Jays.
