Damn. The Wings' streak ends tonight at the hands of Vancouver. That was one hell of a run though, and it is a record that will not be matched or broken for probably the rest of our lifetimes.

Great trade for the Jackets. Amazing fucking trade. Carter is a good player. That is all and had 10 FUCKING YEARS left on his deal.

if he is not moved by the trade deadline then the jackets will get less for him I think. Sens have been doing awesome lately. Boston is up next and of course Anderson is out with an injury. He cut his hand cooking

That's exactly why I don't see them trading him. The only teams that really have the pieces, if any, to get him are contenders and they would just be stupid to give him to them. Besides that, I don't think there is really a goal-tender that is worth giving Nash up for.

Still not sure why so many people here don't like that trade. Johnson is practically a top 4 player at that position which is hard to find in the first place and then this year we will potentially have 2 first round draft picks and then one in 2013.

I'm hearing that the Wings are super interested in Gaustad from the Sabres. Any word on what they're willing to give up for him, Opti?

I fucking hate the trade deadline. I always get super anxious for like a straight week, and nothing ever happens until the night before, or the morning of. This year is especially bad because the Sabres pretty much need to have a fire sale.

He'll be #2 behind Roy for right now, but he's definitely going straight to the 2nd line, and will get his chance when Roy is either gone in the offseason, or by next year's trade deadline.

Also:

Gaustad + 4th round to Nashville for a 1st rounder: LOVE this. This is going to free up not just some cash in the offseason, but will give them one high 1st round draft pick, and another low 1st rounder. After all of our UFA contracts expire at the end of the season, Buffalo will now have two 1st round picks, and nearly $10mil free cap space. This offseason is going to be awesome. A lot of people in Buffalo are going fucking crazy over this because Gaustad is absolutely loved there, but to anyone who isn't twelve, or has any sort of hockey acumen, this is a steal for Buffalo.

Gragnani to Canucks for Salzer: This is probably good for the Sabres because we need another d-dman, but I'm willing to bet that this had to be done in order to get Hodgson over to Buffalo moreso than anything.


I'd rate this trade deadline an A- for Buffalo. Had they been able to move Roy, it would have been an A+.

Great trade deadline for the Preds. We add Gaustad who is the center we need and will help on the penalty kill. We also added A. Kostitsyn who will help with goal scoring. Plus we got Hal gill a few days ago which will be that big guy that can shut down guys like Kessler for us this year in the playoffs.

Let's hope this pays off and we can get deep int eh playoffs!

Honesty, AK46 is a terrible player. Maybe being back with his brother improves his laziness. He has 1 goal in his last 18 games I believe

Gaustad was on the Wings radar but giving up a 1st round pick for a 3rd line C is borderline insanity IMO. Press HAVE to go deep this year or heads should roll

The only way he's being traded is if we get a top W, top D and 2 first round draft picks. Nobody in the right state of mind would offer that. I'm talking like if the Penguins for example wanted him they would have to give up LeTang, Staal and then 2 first round picks.

Agag At thinking Nash is worth that. This isnt Wayne Gretzky. It's Rick Nash. He's a .8 pt per game player. That's it.

Nash is good. Not great and has had multiple people brought in to play with him. Hell, he was even pulled off Crosby's line in the Olympics and replaced with Eric Stall.

I like Nash, love to have him on the Wings. He will be gone at the draft and it won't be for anything near that

Do you understand that Nash is practically Lebron James of the city of Columbus pro sports? Do you understand the devastation that trading him for peanuts would cause the organization? Do you understand that now that Jeff Carter is gone he is the ONLY all-star player on that team?

Of course they want a lot for him and that's why I don't see a trade happening. There is nobody willing to pay the demands they want for him. Right now it's clear that they are nuking the team and going back to point A but they're not going to just give up Nash for the sake of rebuilding.

yes they will. they will flip him before he can ever stick it to him. HE could for intents and purposes he could narrow his team list and even then he doesn't have to lift his no trade clause (as far as I know) and then decide not to play next season. its best for both parties to let him go and for him to leave.

He's under contract for another 8 years. I doubt no matter how pissed off he is with the state of the organization he's going to stick it to the fans and if he does then it just shows that he isn't the man that everyone thought he was.

I'm not saying he's in their league. I'm just saying he won't get traded is all especially for what the Jackets are asking.

@Mac, I would cheer for the Coyotes but I have enough problems watching a team who gets swept by the Redwings in the post-season.
