So this afternoon I found via Facebook status updates of multiple people I know that somebody I knew from college (he was good friends with the people I hung out with and went there for a year before transferring out) got killed serving over in Afghanistan.

I hate finding out bad news that way, seeing a sad, serious message buried amongst all the bullshit. Feels like a punch in the stomach....

Yea, I highly doubt would be sending her many, if any, PM's. He's too busy reading the latest adventures of Batman and Avengers to give a shit about some underage internet drama queen. This board has been pretty great since her departure I have to say.

Over the last 3 or 4 years I've found out about a dozen or so people dying via facebook. Its a shocking commentary on our modern society that now people don't have someone gently tell them a friend died but instead to read it on a computer screen. Sorry to hear about your loss.

CAGE has been able to shine more lately and it's been a treat.

I don't really care for it much. Friendships and relationships have been reduced to status updates and easy to break by clicking "delete this friend" or changing your status back to single without even so much as having to talk it out with who you're with. I call it a resume to society. You don't have to get to know anyone on a decent level anymore to know if you think they're some cool cats or flat out lame: all you have to do is check out their likes, religion/political affiliation (if you use that as a barometer of judging people), etc. to know enough about them.

Also people playing Farmville ironically (LOL GET IT, ITS FUNNY BECAUSE I'M TAKING SUCH A CHILDISH THING SRSLY :]) need to fuck the fuck off and get up front with the ringmaster, with the ringading-dingalinga-ping-master to get their motherfuckin' wind pipes chopped off.

I honestly couldn't remember the last time I read about their political views, fav bands and what not. I don't really have anyone I don't know or haven't met on my facebook.

Do people just search random people and add them? I don't use my facebook like that.

Never was much of a social networker myself.

If I didnt have facebook I wouldnt talk to my family. Its the only way I can tolerate most people.
